Thought for the day
(The thought for the day is based on the Mass readings for the day)
“I hate, I spurn your feasts, says the Lord, I take no pleasure in your solemnities; your cereal offerings I will not accept, nor consider your stall-fed peace offerings. Away with your noisy songs!” Amos 5:14-15
The prophet seems a bit upset which means the Lord appears to be upset as well. Empty offerings. The Lord refused to accept their sacrifices because there was no heart in them. The things they offered no longer reflected the sacrifice of a loving heart. Lip service. Are our prayers “noisy songs” that are unacceptable? Or when we pray do we first surrender to the Lord with loving hearts?
